The 7 Spiritual Laws: Unlocking the Hidden Code of the Cosmos for Personal Transformation
Everything in existence follows the rhythm of unseen laws—mystical, ancient, and scientifically sound. These are not only spiritual clichés or philosophical speculations. These are the 7 Spiritual Laws, everlasting laws that regulate both the internal and external workings of life. Whether you’re looking for abundance, clarity, tranquility, or purpose, these principles provide the spiritual framework on which the universe functions—and your life evolves.
In this post, we’ll go over each law in full, citing Vedic literature, quantum theory, and real-world instances. You won’t only understand them; you’ll be able to live them.
1. The Law of Mentalism: All is Mind
“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7.
“Sarvam khalvidam Brahma.” – Chandogya Upanishad (All is Brahman)
According to the Law of Mentalism, the cosmos is mental in nature, meaning that everything begins in the mind. Your outside world is a reflection of your inside ideas. In Vedic thought, this is consistent with the notion of Manas (mind) as the filter through which we view the universe. The Upanishads assert that all existence originates in Brahman, the formless realm of consciousness—pure mind-stuff.
Even quantum science confirms this. The observer influences the observed. Reality is not stable until it is perceived. Your beliefs, expectations, and thoughts directly influence your reality.
Ever notice how two people might be in the same scenario but react drastically differently? One sees opportunity, while the other sees tragedy. The distinction is in their conceptual framework.
How to live by the Law: Master your inner world. Affirmations, visualization, and meditation can help you retrain your thought processes. Choose empowering thoughts on a consistent basis, and your life will alter appropriately.
2. The Law of Correspondence: As Within, So Without
“Yatha pinde tatha brahmande.” – Shaivite Scriptures (The world is the same as the atom)
This law states that your exterior environment is a reflection of your inner state. The macrocosm (the universe) and the microcosm (you) are mirrors of one another. The Pinda-Brahmanda relationship finds parallels in Indian thought to the Hermetic notion, “As above, so below; as within, so without.”
Psychologically, this is reflected in projection theory—what you dislike or appreciate in others often reflects aspects of your own personality.
How to live by the Law: If you consistently attract harmful relationships, it may indicate unresolved self-worth issues. Heal your inner wounds, and your outer world will transform.
Your internal vibration determines your external surroundings. Change your consciousness, and the environment around you will change in response.
3. The Law of Vibration: Everything is Energy
“Spanda Karikas” discusses Spanda – the divine vibration that underlies existence.
Modern physics has validated what ancient mystics always knew – everything vibrates – from your thoughts to your emotions, every part of you is energy in motion. The Law of Vibration explains that nothing ever rests. Everything is constantly moving and changing.
One’s personal vibration attracts elements corresponding to it. Higher vibrations achieve outcomes that reflect experiences centered on love, appreciation, and joy, while lower vibration experiences, fearful or resentful in nature, cannot achieve harmony; they will simply repulse.
Scientific Analogy: Dr. Joe Dispenza emphasizes how our thoughts and emotions produce electromagnetic fields that alter our biology and create our circumstances.
How to Live by the Law: Ever entered a room and felt “bad vibes”? That is your nervous system picking up on subtle varying energies. Everyone does this all the time, diligently and automatically, even unconsciously.
You can raise your vibration. By chanting mantras, using breathing exercises (pranayama), living mindfully, and doing heart-centered activities, you will naturally elevate to a higher state of being.
4. The Law of Polarity: Everything Has Its Opposite
“Dwandwa mohena bharata.” – Bhagavad Gita (All people are deluded by the dualities of desire and hate.)
This law reminds us that duality is vital for growth. Light and dark, hot and cold, and love and fear only exist in contrast to the other. But they are not enemies—they are two different sides of the same coin.
Spiritual teachings tell us to use awareness to transcend duality, not to deny the existence of duality. You can’t have joy without sorrow or courage without fear.
How to live by the Law: When you isolate yourself in heartbreak, it’s the gateway to deep compassion; suffering gives birth to strength; every challenge is a blessing in disguise if you are willing to see it as such.
Reframing of perspective is necessary. Rather than fighting the opposites in life, learn from them; that is how alchemy happens.
5. The Law of Rhythm: Everything Moves in Cycles
“Anityam asukham lokam.” – Bhagavad Gita (This world is transient and full of cycles.)
The tides ebb and flow. The seasons wax and wane. The moon and stars wax and wane. The Law of Rhythm says that all of life moves in predictable natural cycles and every phenomenon you experience slides into and out of a larger ebb and flow.
No state of being is ever constant, whether joy or despair. By realizing this, you develop resiliency.
Scientific analogy: Circadian rhythms operate all of your biology. Your energy, mood, and health all rise and fall within natural patterns and rhythms, as do markets, relationships, and your creative zing.
Personal anecdote: When you are low, remind yourself that it is simply a phase of a longer wave. Have trust that you are destined for an upward swing. Surf the rhythm rather than drown in resistance.
How to live by the Law: Cultivate detachment and balance. Meditate. Rest when it is called for. Act when you are inspired. Be willing to follow the rhythms of life.
6. The Law of Cause and Effect: Karma in Motion
“Karmanye vadhikaraste.” – Bhagavad Gita (You have the right to action, not the fruits)
Every cause produces an effect. Every action has a reaction. This is the Law of Cause and Effect, and it is foundational to the doctrine of Karma as it is thought of in Vedic precepts.
Karma is not punishment; it is education. The universe responds to your intentions, not just your actions, and that’s why you need to be equally aware of the purity of your thoughts when it comes to your actions.
Scientific analogy: As with all things universal, there is a scientific analogy. Isaac Newton’s Third Law states, “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” As is so often the case, the laws of physics are equally applicable to your choices on an energetic level.
If you “plant” thoughts (or seeds) of patience and discipline, it is inevitable that you will eventually harvest success. If you plant thoughts (or seeds) of fear or anger, chaos will often follow. You are always co-creating your future with every thought and act.
It is important to realize that there is only one person that is responsible for your life. You! That is the first step to real empowerment.
7. The Law of Gender: Divine Masculine and Feminine
“Shakti-Shiva aikyam.” – Tantric texts (Feminine Shakti and masculine Shiv unite to create ‘existence’)
The Law of Gender tells us that everything contains both masculinity (active, logical, structure) and femininity (intuitive, creative, receptive) energies. We ever aspire towards a balance of these energies – they are catalysts for harmony and growth in the universe and our lives.
In Vedic philosophy, the Ardhanarishvara, literally translating as “half male, half female,” is an androgynous fire that takes the form of Shiva and Shakti united as one body. A real demonstration of the unity of opposites.
In life, creativity (feminine) requires discipline (masculine) to manifest. Intuitive thought (feminine) employed in conjunction with strategy (masculine) turns learning and knowledge into wise action.
When out of balance, over-masculine energy creates burnout. Overly feminine energy causes stagnation. Balance is power.
How do we come to align our energies? We cultivate both innate sides; first we use meditation, life review, and multi-dimensional inner therapy to tap into our inner feminine. Then we use goal results planning, stillness assertion, spiritual affirmation or active rituals to empower our inner masculine. Both sides are divine. Both are necessary.
Become a Conscious Creator of Your Reality
The 7 Universal Laws are not nebulous ideas but are, in fact, cosmic laws created for you to expand, awaken and engage. When we recognize, understand and take action according to the laws, we unleash our inner power and engage with the divine movement of life.
The Brihadaranyaka Upanishad reminds us that “You are what your deep, driving desire is. As your desire is, so is your will. As your will is, so is your deed. As your deed is, so is your destiny.“
Be intentional with your thoughts, feelings and actions. The universe is always listening. Always responding.
Do not depend on luck; depend on law. In doing so, you will encounter your truest self, the eternal flicker of cosmic consciousness and divinity intrinsic to you.
